2018 Kia Cadenza Specs and Release Date

If dog years are 7 times human years, than car model years are about 20 times human years. When a design has come to its 5th, 6th, or 7th year of being on the market, it’s generally time for a refresh.

Last year, Kia did just that with their full-size executive sedan, the Cadenza. After seven years, Kia revised everything – engine, drive-train, and a stunning new exterior designed by iconic automobile designer, Peter Schreyer.

The result was striking. Where the 1st generation Cadenza had a regal, stretched appearance, the 2017 sought to elicit a more visceral feeling from drivers. With a more aggressive grille, posture and headlight set, the redesigned Cadenza looked down-right powerful.

A Well-Rounded Ride

Winning a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the redesigned Cadenza proved itself to be a great choice as a family vehicle as well! Standard comfort and convenience features, and luxurious options made the Cadenza a cost-effective competitor for “luxury brand” automobile manufacturers.

We bring all of this up, because Kia hasn’t made any information official regarding the 2018 Kia Cadenza yet. Knowing, however, that the redesigned model is only 1 model-year old, here are some educated guesses we can make about what to expect from the 2018 Kia Cadenza:

  1. It will exist – There’s no reason to believe Kia’s lack of an official announcement signals the end of the Cadenza. On the contrary, the success and recognition of the previous model year should ensure that, upon its release, it is positioned as a workhorse for the South Korean automobile manufacturer.
  2. It won’t feature a new design – With the Peter Scheyer-designed model fresh for 2017, it’s unlikely that Kia will seek to improve a model that is, aesthetically, very ahead of the curve.
  3. It will bring power, and comfort – Like the 2017 model, the 2018 refresh is likely to feature a 3.3L V6 engine, capable of 290 horsepower and 253 lb-ft. of torque. Additionally, comfort features found on the 2017 Cadenza are certain to be present with the 2018 model. Some of these that we really enjoyed are the Cadenza’s expansive cabin, available panoramic sunroof, available navigation and leather seating.
